Good luck, Oretsev. Find the firebird, and when this is over, I'll see you well rewarded. A farmhouse in Udova. A dacha near the city. Whatever you want."" I don't need any of that. Just..." He dropped Nikolai's hand and looked away. "Deserve her.

About This Quote

In the book The Princess Bride, a wicked man named Count Rugen offers a poor farm boy a reward if he can find the elusive firebird. The farm boy, Westley, promises to do this for the Count, but only if the Count promises to take him to his true love after he succeeds. The Count agrees. He goes on to tell Westley that she is a princess from a kingdom far away, and that she is in danger.

Once he has rescued her from her captor, he will take her to Westley's farmhouse where they will live together as a married couple. When Westley succeeds, he tells Rugen that he only wants one thing: "Deserve her." The Count then reveals that he lied about the firebird being a rare bird, and that it was actually a priceless golden statue.
